How Do Safety Impact Barriers Work?

At Southern Dock Products, a division of Duraserv, we have three types of loading dock impact barriers namely Dock Guard Safety Lip, APS Bollard Pole and APS Dock Impact Barrier.

Dock Guard Safety Barrier Lip

The dock guard safety barrier lip gives protection to personnel, goods and equipment from rolling out of the dock accidentally. This kind of safety impact barriers is most useful in keeping the truck lift safely on the leveler and when it is used below the dock end loading conditions. It provides life expansion to the leveler. The dock guard lip hinge is 400% stronger than a conventional leveler hinge in normal operations.

APS Bollard Pole

The APS Bollard pole is a great protection for different dock r warehouse applications. It is available in heavy duty that measures 6” or 4” in diameter, schedule 40 pipe with one half base plate. Optional cap is available and floor hardware is included.

The APS dock impact barrier’s lower impact barrier is build from 9/16” of thick steel cable that can be seen inside a flexible fiber glass rail. It has the capability to stop a 10,000 lb fork truck moving at 4 mph. the highly visible yellow nylon webbing gives additional visual barrier at the dock.

This type of impact barrier is operated manually using a gate style barrier. The APS dock impact barrier is opened by releasing the latch and lifting the gate into an upright position with few efforts when dock use is required.

The APS dock impact barrier can lessen the occurrence of:

·         Accidents due to fork lift, pedestrians or pallets jacks falling off the dock when the door is open
·         It can harm the equipment, load, door panels and door track when the door is closed.

It is 4” wide, weather resistant for a long-term performance and with 47,000 microprisms per square inch that provides intense reflective property. Simple to install. The operations can be performed by a single dock attendant in just a few seconds with minimum effort required. With one hand, it can raise and lower the dock impact barrier.
